[Automated prison phone message: “This call is from Joe Garrett, an inmate at a federal prison.”]

Yes, my name is Joe Garrett. I'm a federal inmate who was convicted on multiple counts of drug distribution, including conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute many different types of drugs, such as cocaine, cocaine base, which is also known as crack, and marijuana. I was sentenced to life sentences on four counts and a 30-year sentence on another count.

When Congress passed the First Step Act of 2018, it gave me the opportunity to seek a sentence reduction based on a change in the law. Congress gave the sentencing court the power of discretion to determine who would benefit from that change. I knew that the government, in my case, would raise a strong argument urging the court to deny reduction in the sentence, based on relevant conduct facts of me more likely being considered the chief lieutenant of a drug operation, and two murders considered to be relevant conduct in the conspiracy that I was charged in. I was afraid that the court would give more weight to the government's opposition and use its discretion to deny me.

So I reached out to Brandon Sample Law Firm and hired him to represent me. At that point, Brandon Sample filed a very compelling motion on my behalf. Although the government argument was exactly what I thought it would be, the motion prepared by Brandon sustained the nuances of the government, and the judge granted me a reduction of sentence from life to 35 years.

So I'm very happy with the services that Brandon provided me, and I wouldn't hesitate to use him in the future if anything else came about where I can then benefit from another change in sentencing laws, or any type of BOP issues that I may have that may eventually get me the time served and immediate release that I'm seeking.
