My name is Kevin Wolcott. My father is Joseph Wolcott. In 2008, he got charged with marijuana and conspiracy to money launder and some gambling charges. He got 23 years in prison. We've hired several different lawyers, several different law firms. Seemed like every time we just came up short. After we exhausted our 2255, we thought basically all hope was over. The First Step Act got passed, and we knew we only had one more shot, basically, to get my father out of prison.
We did a lot of research on a lot of different law firms. I listened to some testimonials from Brandon Sample's law firm, and I ended up contacting Brandon, and we set it up to where my father could talk to him. You know, my father has been diagnosed with dementia, so he had a million questions, and would email me or call me daily to have me reach out to Brandon for more questions and more questions and more questions. Once we got started in the motions, we were in contact, sometimes daily, sometimes weekly. He always kept us informed of where we're at, what is next, what the timeline looks like. With other lawyers, we felt like we had a good chance, and we've ended up losing, and I was kind of afraid that this was gonna be the same thing. After the motion was filed, I'll never forget the day. I'm sitting at home, I'd brought my wife some flowers and a gift in for Valentine's Day, and we were in the room with the kids, and my cell phone rings, and it's Brandon. He said, "I got some great news. The judge just ruled, and he's ruled in our favor, and he's letting your father out. You need to go pick him up." I had him on speakerphone, and I started crying, and my wife started crying, my kids started crying, and I got on the road right then to go pick up my dad. And it was one of the happiest days of my life.
I never really thought that I would be sitting here with my father, with my family, giving a testimonial of my own. The absolute best thing we've done was when we decided to hire Brandon Sample's law office. I would recommend him 100,000% to anybody in the world.
